There is apprehension that the entry into the governorship race by Senator Stella Oduah, (PDP, Anambra North) might distort political permutations for aspirants from the North.
Oduah is from Ogbaru local government area as another PDP aspirant, Mr. Oseloka Obaze and the fear is that both might split the votes of PDP delegates from the area during the forthcoming primaries.
There is also Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, and Lynda Ikpeazu from the neighbouring Onitsha North local government area and the fear is that should the four from Anambra North insist on going for the primaries, any aspirant from Anambra South might have a better chance of getting the party’s ticket.
The only PDP aspirant from the South is Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu, who is believed to have a firm hold on his zone and in Anambra Central.
In fact, his entry into the race jolted many politicians in the state as he is known to be a dogged political fighter.
However, with the informal announcement by the PDP chairman of the caretaker committee in the state, Dr. Alphonsus Nwosu that the party might zone the ticket to Anambra North, political observe believe that the only way to achieve that was for the zone to present only one aspirant during the primary.
