Ondo House confirms Akeredolu’s commissioner-nominees

The Ondo State House of Assembly on Tuesday confirmed the 18 commissioner-nominees sent to it by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.


Akeredolu sent the list to the Assembly last week for confirmation.

The commissioner-nominees include: a former Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Taofiq Abdulsalam, Rasheed Badmus, Solagbade Amodeni, Adegboyega Adefarati, Saka Yusuf Ogunleye, and Mrs. Omowumi Olatunji-Edet,

Others are: Mr. Donald Ojogo, Yemi Olowolabi, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, Funso Esan, Wale Akinterinwa and Emmanuel Igbasan.

The other nominees are: Olurimisi Ismaila, Femi Agagu, Prof. Bayonle Ademodi, Lola Fagbemi, Timilehin Adelegbe and Kola Olawoye.

Each of the nominees was chosen from each of the 18 local government areas of the state.

In his remarks at the plenary session, the Speaker, Hon. Bamidele Oloyelogun, who congratulated the nominees, said the House had endorsed the nomination of the 18 governor’s aides.

He said, “The House hereby approves the nomination of the 18 commissioner-nominees.”

Also, the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Iroju Ogundeji, said the confirmation was in line with the recommendation of the report of the House Committee on Selection.

He commended the governor for choosing right people as his commissioners, and expressed optimism that all the new commissioners would perform well in their respective offices.

Responding on behalf of the commissioner-nominees, the former Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Taofeek Abdusalam, said they were ready to serve the state and urged the lawmakers to support them.

After the confirmation of the commissioners, the Speaker announced that the House would proceed on six-week recess
