Okagbare, Brume face moment of truth
Nigerian hopefuls, Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor and Ese Brume will file out this evening to seek qualification for the final of the women’s long jump event in Day 6 of the IAAF World Championships in London.
Having failed to make the final of the highly entertaining women 100m on Monday, Okagbare-Ighoteguonr skipped the 200m to concentrate on the long jump where she won a silver in the 2013 edition in Moscow, Russia. She did her personal best of 7.00m at the championships, missing narrowly the gold won by Brittney Reese with 7.01m With a season’s best of 6.77m, the African 100m women recorder holder, is hoping to spring another performance despite the strong field of women long jumpers who have better performances this season
Brume on the other hand is hopeful of making an improvement to her performance and finish in the top three. But she has to do more than her personal best of 6.83m
