The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has sacked its state Publicity Secretary, Mr. Godwin Erhahon, after more than three months of suspension.
It was learnt that Erhahon’s removal followed a vote of no confidence by the state executive committee of the party.
The committee, consequently, appointed another APC leader from Orhiomwon Local Government Area, Mr. Chris Azebamwen, as his replacement.
Erhahon had been suspended for allegedly making statements that embarrassed the party.
But in his reaction on Friday, he described the development as an indication that the merger between the APC and the defunct Congress for Progressive Change had been “wiped out”.
Erhahon said, “I thank God that was how it ended. All my entitlement in the party has been withheld since July last year. This month (August) made it the 14th month; the three-month suspension was supposed to end in March but it lingered till Thursday. So, it did not come to me as a surprise.
He, however, absolved the immediate past governor, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, from being behind his removal.
“I use to think that the immediate past governor, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, was behind it. But I have seen (that) he has no hand in it. He is against it and he is still against it. The implication is that the merger between the CPC and the APC in the state has been completely wiped out,” Erhahon added.
